Let the Holiday Weekend Begin!

Jeff Haniewich

Hello!  We certainly had a good amount of warmth out and about on Friday, as highs reached well into the 80s.  And the warmth and humidity will not be leaving us anytime soon.  While there is enough instability to kick off some storms this evening, there is a cap in the atmosphere which should inhibit the formation of any widespread storms, although a stray one cannot be ruled out.  Otherwise, tonight looks fair with some fog developing later on.  It will also be mild and muggy with lows in the low-to-mid 60s.  Saturday will be hazy, hot, and humid with highs in the upper 80s to near 90.  There will be some spotty t-showers forming during the heating of the day, mainly towards the mountains.  Both Sunday and Memorial Day look to see a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s.  Because of a cold front moving closer to us from the west and also a tropical low off the coastline of the Carolinas (could become a Tropical Depression or Tropical Storm this weekend), there will be a continued chance for some hit-or-miss showers/storms both days as well.  That aforementioned frontal boundary will move overhead on Tuesday, creating a better chance for scattered showers and storms.  We will probably see more cloud cover and temperatures will cool off a bit on Tuesday, falling into the middle 80s.  We should have temperatures dropping a little bit more Wednesday through Friday, with highs in the low-to-mid 80s.  Both Wednesday and Thursday look partly sunny with only a slight chance for a few PM storms.  There will be a better opportunity for passing t-showers once again next Friday, so next week does look unsettled at times.  Have a great (and safe!) holiday weekend!
